Chief Information Officer

Our client is seeking A forward-thinking higher education institution is seeking an experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead its technology strategy and digital transformation efforts. This role is ideal for a strategic technology leader with 10-15 years of experience who can envision and implement emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance institutional efficiency, security, and student engagement.

Reporting directly to the President, the CIO will oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital learning platforms, and enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who understands the evolving landscape of technology in higher education and can drive initiatives that improve student outcomes, faculty engagement, and administrative operations.

This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a forward-looking mindset to align IT strategy with the institution’s mission and long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technology Vision & AI Integration: Develop and execute a technology roadmap that incorporates AI and automation to enhance institutional operations, student engagement, and administrative processes.
  • Cybersecurity & Risk Management: Implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies to protect data and digital assets while ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • IT Infrastructure & Digital Transformation: Modernize IT infrastructure, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient systems that support both academic and administrative functions.
  • Data Strategy & Analytics: Drive data governance initiatives and leverage AI-powered analytics to improve decision-making and streamline reporting.
  • Academic Technology & Learning Innovation: Partner with academic leaders to enhance technology-enabled learning environments and ensure faculty have access to cutting-edge tools.
  • Talent Development & Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing IT team, fostering innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • IT Governance & Compliance: Establish policies and best practices to optimize IT service delivery and ensure alignment with institutional goals.
  • Help Desk & End-User Support: Oversee IT support services, ensuring responsive and AI-enhanced technical assistance for faculty, staff, and students.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 10-15 years of IT leadership experience, preferably in higher education or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong background in AI-driven solutions, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
  • Proven track record in leading digital transformation initiatives and integrating emerging technologies.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing IT budgets, vendor relationships, and system integration projects.
  • Ability to align technology investments with institutional priorities and long-term growth.
  • Passion for leveraging technology to improve student experiences and institutional success.
